- Pretty things for little things
More than 22 444 unique hand-made articles were entered for the Pretty Things for Little Things project presented by Age-in-Action and sponsored by Shoprite and Checkers.
- Toy 4 Toy
Shoprite and Checkers annually present the Toy 4 Toy Campaign that urges customers to donate new or used toys to needy children.

The campaign has through the years collected and distributed more than a million books, and in 2012 the public’s generous donations saw a 56 404 books amassed! These books are distributed to needy schools, libraries and organizations throughout South Africa to help increase the level of literacy in the country.
- Mobile Soup kitchens
The Shoprite feeding program aims to distribute meals of nutritional soup and bread to the poorest communities in South Africa to alleviate the plight of especially children and senior citizens, as well as the thousands of people affected by job losses.
- Cuppa for CANSA
Each year during the month of June, our Cuppa for Cansa promotion supports the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) in its fight against cancer. Shoprite and Checkers facilitates Cuppa’s in its stores countrywide during June, and donate the proceeds of all in-store Cuppa events to CANSA.
Donations
Shoprite is committed to helping those in need. Apart from all the community projects that is supported and funded by the Shoprite Group, we also donate a large amount of financial aid as well as products to those who are in need. Shoprite has donated millions of rands to causes across the country and has supported more than 7000 initiatives in various communities. It’s just one of the ways in which we help change lives. |
