RSG/KKNK Book Collection
The campaign, now in its fourteenth year, has through the years collected and distributed more than a million books, and in 2011 the public’s generous donations saw a phenomenal 51 343 books amassed!
Shoprite Community Network
The Shoprite Community Network utilizes 13 regional radio stations to ask the general public to nominate organizations that make a difference in their communities. Every month, one project per station is selected to receive aid from Shoprite. One of the eleven non-profit organisations that recently benefited from the programme is the ACFS Community Education and Feeding Scheme in Gauteng.
Mobile Soup Kitchens
The Shoprite feeding program aims to distribute meals of nutritional soup and bread to the poorest communities in South Africa to alleviate the plight of especially children and senior citizens, as well as the thousands of people affected by job losses.
Donations
Shoprite Checkers has a firm donations policy to support Section 22 organizations and community service providers in the communities the group operates in, i.e. the South African Police Services, orphanages, old age homes, family institutions etc.
Disaster Management
The Shoprite Group has an emergency plan in place to assist those in need with food, clothing and blankets in the event of disasters (floods and fires).
Cuppa for Cansa
Each year during the month of June, our Cuppa for Cansa promotion supports the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) in its fight against cancer.
Casual Day
During September, the supermarket group assists disabled people through their annual involvement in Casual Day.
