Hope’s Braai Corn

Description

Every South African knows that a braai is not really a braai without some grilled sweetcorn on the side! This traditional South African recipe by Chef Hope is not just a family favourite, it’s a delicious braai side dish to level up your Heritage Day feast.

Directions

1. Boil sweetcorn in a deep pot for 10 minutes. Remove corn from the water and brush with butter.

2. Braai for a further 10 minutes over low coals or until charred to your liking.

3. Mix mayonnaise, Homegrown Pele Pele sauce, cayenne pepper and vinegar or lemon juice in a bowl, then drizzle over braaied corn once cooled slightly.

  • 6 sweetcorn
  • 60g butter or margarine
  • 125ml mayonnaise
  • 60ml Homegrown Pele Pele sauce
  • 2.5ml (½ tsp.) cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar/lemon juice
