Creamy Strawberry Sauce
Strawberries and cream are a treat by themselves but, combined, they deliver pure bliss. By simply adding these few ingredients together, you’ll be able to prepare a decadent sauce for any pudding or cake. It’s especially delicious with vanilla ice cream - feel free to add some wafer biscuits too for a bit of crunch. You can also try it as a pancake filling or to top waffles, adding some chunky strawberry pieces as a garnish. Makes about 800 ml.
375 ml fresh strawberries, chopped
250 ml Rhodes Strawberry Jam
250 ml berry juice
65 ml cornflour
125 ml cream
Tips and variations:
Use canned or frozen strawberries if fresh ones are out of season. You can also vary the types of fruit. For instance, hot apricot sauce (using canned apricots or jam) is also a treat as a vanilla ice cream sauce. Or try orange marmalade, combined with orange juice, to pour over chocolate ice cream.
