Simple Sweetcorn Bake

Description

This is one of the most classic South African recipes. If you love a good braai, you’ll be happy to hear that this will pair perfectly with your meat as a simple side dish and is a great leftover for a delicious and filling family breakfast. (That’s if you manage not to finish it before then!) 

Directions

1. Beat the eggs with the melted butter then sift in the flour, salt and chilli flakes, if using. Mix well then stir in the Rhodes Cream Style Sweetcorn and pour the mixture into a greased oven dish.

2. Combine the grated cheese and parsley and sprinkle on top. Bake in an oven preheated to 180 °C for an hour or until baked through.

  • 4 large eggs
  • 65 ml melted butter
  • 250 ml self-raising flour
  • 5 ml salt
  • 2 cans (410 g each) Rhodes Cream Style Sweetcorn
  • 250 ml Cheddar cheese; grated
  • 45 ml parsley; chopped
  • Chilli flakes (optional)
