Shoprite | ShareForGood

We’re all about contributing to the wellbeing of the communities where we do business, which is why Shoprite donated food to the value of R200 000 as part of our annual #ShareForGood festive season campaign during December 2015. Joining hands with influential South Africans, we distributed almost 2 000 buckets of non-perishable food to communities and charity organisations in need.

A number of influential personalities committed themselves to #ShareForGood, including comedians Marc Lottering and Tol Ass Mo; radio DJ’s Rob Vember (KFM) and Mafa Bavuma (Umhlobo Wenene FM); Sharks players Ruan Botha, Etienne Oosthuizen and Tera Mtembu; television personalities Bonnie Mbuli, Jessica Nkosi and Nomzamo Mbatha and business woman Jo-Ann Strauss.
These individuals posted and tweeted about their #ShareForGood handovers on social media. The aim is, through their kind work and efforts, to inspire others to also #ShareForGood this festive season.

Some of the charities and communities that have benefitted include Wake Up & Feed a Child (Mitchell’s Plain); Children of Fire (Mellville); Nazareth House (Vredehoek); Yiza Ekhaya Soup Kitchen (Kuyasa, Khayelitsha); residents of KwaMashu (Durban), Bogom (Polokwane), Khayelitsha and Masiphumele (Cape Town), Soweto and Alexandra (Gauteng); Bobbi Bear (Doonside); Choc Childhood Cancer Foundation (Cato Manor); the Natal Settlers Memorial Homes (Durban), Sinethemba Children’s Care Centre (Port Elizabeth) and the Thabo Community Action Trust (Thaba'Nchu and Botshabelo).

You too can get involved and #ShareForGood by bringing some festive cheer to those who have less.
All you need to do is fill a bucket with non-perishable food according to your means and donate it to somebody in need. Be sure to encourage your friends and family to do the same!
