HOW TO REGISTER

  • Customers must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a valid South African Identity Document.
  • Only one Shoprite or Checkers Money account per customer.

  • Select: Register
  • Enter your RSA ID number
  • Accept the Ts&Cs and confirm your details
  • Create a PIN
  • Confirm if you want to receive marketing information

2 OR, TAKE YOUR SA ID TO ANY SHOPRITE OR CHECKERS MONEY MARKET COUNTER.


You will get an SMS with a unique 6-digit ONE-TIME PIN (OTP). Show this number to the cashier.

    Note: Only cash may be loaded
    (No debit card transactions)

    At the till:

    • Dial *134*3534# on your cellphone
    • Select: Load Cash and press the ‘Dial’ button
    • You’ll receive a code to process the cash deposit
    • Tell the cashier how much you wish to deposit
    • Enter the code on your cellphone on the pin pad when asked by the cashier
    • You will receive a customer slip to confirm the amount you have loaded
    • Keep your till slip as proof of your transaction
  • HOW TO
    CASH OUT
    • Dial: *134*3534#
    • Select: Cash out
    • Enter the amount
    • You’ll receive a code
    • You can now withdraw at any till point in-store


    Withdrawing cash costs a small fee of just R9.95.

    • Select: Buy shopping
    • Enter amount
    • You will then receive a code
  • HOW TO SEND MONEY

    You will be able to make once off payments as well as add receivers/ beneficiaries as a ‘favourite’.

    • Dial *134*3534#
    • Select: Send Money
    • Enter the amount you wish to send
    • Enter the cellphone number of the person you want to send money to
    • Confirm
    • You’ll receive a confirmation message when the money is sent
    • You can save the cellphone number as one of your ‘Favourites’ The receiver will be sent a confirmation SMS
    • If you want to send money to a ‘Favourite’;
    • Select: Send Money using Favourites and Select which Favourite from your list.

    • Select: Buy Airtime
    • Enter amount
    • Select mobile network
    • An SMS will be sent with the voucher number
  • HOW TO BUY ELECTRICITY
    • Dial *134*3534#
    • Select: More
    • Select: Buy Electricity
    • Choose a saved meter number (favourite) or a new number
    • Enter meter number
    • Enter amount (minimum R10)
    • Please wait a few minutes for verification
    • Dial back into Shoprite Money
    • Confirm details
    • An SMS will be sent with the electricity token

    You can now add, change and delete favourites for sending money and buying electricity and view your last 3 transactions (chat to a cashier at the Money Market counter to print a longer transaction history for you)

  • LIMITS

    R1000 – Total of all cash out transactions per day

    R1000 – Total of all send transactions per day

    R1000 – Total of all purchase transactions per day (includes shopping, buying and airtime)

    R1000 – Maximum amount a customer can deposit into their account per day

    R5000 – Maximum amount a customer can receive from 1 or more account holders per day

    R25000 – Total of sending money, purchases as well as cash outs per month

    R25000 – Maximum account balance

  • TERMS & CONDITIONS

    Shoprite Money is only available in South Africa.

    • Purchase, deposits & withdrawals only at stores within the Shoprite Group* compliant with regulations.
    • GN6 account (SA Identity Document but not face to face).
    • Screening of customers will be done real time via Standard Bank.
    • Valid ID and sanction screening as per Standard Bank’s requirements.
    • Customer will give consent to the checks before registration can be completed.


    Audit trails will be available.

    • All financial transactions (customer & business).
    • All customer logins (successful & unsuccessful).
    • All changes to customer details.


    A customer can only have one Shoprite Money account.

    To have all the transactions available to them, they need to register.

    • The customer will need a valid South African Identity number.
    • The customer must be over 18 years of age.

    The customer will access their Shoprite Money using their cellphone.

    If they lose their phone, their money is still safe, the account can be locked.

    • They must call the Shoprite Money call centre.
    • Or they need to go into a Shoprite store*.


    The customer can change their cellphone number & still access their money.

    • The customer needs to go to a Shoprite store*.


    Wallet balance and spend limits:

    • The maximum balance, at any time of Shoprite Money is R25000.
    • The maximum amount to use is R1000 per day.
    • The maximum amount to use is R25000 per month.
