Description

Put some bang in your boerie rolls with this gourmet take on a South African favourite. Perfect for your next weekend braai!

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Stir together the relish, sugar and herbs over moderate heat until reduced and thickened. Place the tomatoes, garlic and onions on a baking tray, drizzle well with olive oil and roast for 20 minutes, then mix the roasted tomatoes and garlic with the reduced relish.

2. Braai your Championship Boerewors to perfection while you cut and butter the rolls.

3. Add mustard (if you prefer) and line your roll with a good length of sausage – we think it should always hang out on both sides.

4. Top with relish and onions – and enjoy! 

 

Serve with coleslaw or one of our other easy braai sides.

  • 1 pack Championship Boerewors (thick)
  • 6 long bread rolls (sturdy ones work best)
  • Butter
  • 1 tin tomato & onion relish
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. dried herbs of your choice
  • 4 – 6 cloves garlic; peeled
  • 2 onions; peeled & sliced into rings
  • 1 punnet ripe baby tomatoes
  • Olive oil
