Hot Cross Bun and Butter Pudding by Chef Zanele

Description

Whip up this Hot Cross Bun and Butter Pudding for an Easter dessert made to deliver that wholesome festive taste into every tummy.

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 180 °C.

2. Whisk together eggs, sugar, butter, fresh cream and milk in a bowl.

3. Soak hot cross buns in the mixture for 5 – 10 minutes.

4. Transfer into a baking dish. Bake for 25 – 30 minutes until golden brown and the inside has set.

5. In a saucepan, heat apricot jam and lemon juice over low heat until it becomes runny.

6. Drizzle sauce over hot cross bun pudding.


 

Elevation Tip: 

Serve with custard or ice cream.

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 150 ml melted butter
  • 200 ml fresh cream
  • 200 ml milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla essence
  • 6 hot cross buns; cut in half

 

For the Sauce:

  • 100 g apricot jam
  • 4 tbsp. lemon juice
