Zanele’s Hot Cross Bun S’mores

Description

We’ve got just the dessert to make your Easter deliciously memorable – Chef Zanele's Hot Cross Bun S’mores! A tasty twist on an old fireside favourite, you can make your s’mores under the grill or over the flames – it’s your choice.

 

You’ll also be able to shop for all your ingredients at your nearest Shoprite, and assemble your s’mores in no time too. Easy to make and so indulgent to eat – that’s our kind of Easter treat!

Directions

1. Place the hot cross buns on a bread board and carefully slice each one in half lengthways.

 

2. On each of the bottom halves of the hot cross buns, place one chocolate-covered marshmallow egg, followed by a regular marshmallow. You can also place 1 to 3 blocks of plain chocolate on top of the marshmallow, according to taste.

 

3. Top with the cross part of the hot cross buns, and then either place your s’mores under the grill or over the coals on a braai, until the chocolate has melted.

 

4. Remove your s’mores from the heat (carefully) and enjoy!

  • 6 hot cross buns
  • 6 chocolate-covered marshmallow eggs
  • 6 – 12 regular marshmallows
  • 2 slabs of plain chocolate
