Hot Cross Bun Trifle by Chef Zanele

Description

What’s Easter without a trifle? With this amazing idea by Zanele, you won’t have to find out. 

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 200 °C.

2. Cut hot cross buns in half. Place on a baking tray and toast in the oven for 4 – 6 minutes. Allow to cool.

3. Arrange the bottom halves of the hot cross buns in the trifle dish. Layer on whipped cream, pears and custard, then the top halves of the hot cross buns.

4. Keep making layers until the ingredients are used up. Drizzle melted chocolate on top.
 

Ingredients

  • 6 – 8 hot cross buns
  • 400 ml whipped cream
  • 2 cups custard
  • 1 can pears; drained
  • 4 chocolate Easter eggs; melted
